Substance Architecture, a Des Moines-based design firm, recently announced additions to its leadership team. Matt Rodekamp has been promoted to principal and David Gosnell, Joshua Hemberger, Leah Rudolphi and Kevin Wagner all have been promoted to associated principal. The promotions reaffirm the founding vision of the company: building a firm that is resilient, able to navigate changes and equipped to innovate under fresh leadership, the company wrote in a news release. The new principals, with a combined 90 years of architectural experience, join Todd Garner and Tim Hickman, both principals in the firm, in guiding the company. The changes in the leadership team follows the July 2022 retirement of Paul Mankins, a former principal in the firm.
To both of you, endless thanks and gratitude. This has been a wild process and it would have been impossible to have accomplished this exciting and successful transition without your analytical smarts, your perspective and, periodically, your counseling! Todd and I could not say more positive things about our work with you and what you have helped the larger firm accomplish in 2023.
– Tom Hickman, Substance Architecture
Strogoff Consulting worked closely with the firm throughout the ownership transition process, developed a valuation and series of cash flow models, crafted a set of ownership guidelines and buy-in options; facilitated meetings with the new owners, and coordinated input from the firm's legal and accounting advisors.
